The Roydian Method
Discipline alone is a short-term strategy that depends on willpower, which can be unreliable. The key to sustainable health is to cultivate an environment that nudges us toward the choices and habits that promote our well-being.
When we allow habits to become routine and routine to become lifestyle, results are inevitable and long-lasting. This process can be difficult, though, without the right support and expertise behind us.
The Roydian approach takes into account all of the aspects needed to maximize an individual’s success in transforming their lifestyle, while minimizing the risk of derailment by injury or the urge to quit. These factors include how we move, rejuvenate and fuel the body.
Many other workouts promise a fit appearance, but neglect overall health. They rush the process with excessive INTENSITY, REPETITION and INADEQUATE rest. Roydian training, by contrast, is built on clean, natural movements, which allow for consistent training by reducing wear and tear. With time, the program achieves a lean, true-to-frame aesthetic that is reinforced by balanced strength and graceful mobility.
Our clients benefit from a team of specialists who guide them through every facet of exercise, nutrition and recovery. Between sessions, metrics are tracked and communication remains open to ensure that progress stays on course.
Every body is unique and each case must be treated with care and close attention. With this in mind and our support team in place, a life of looking and feeling your best is well within reach.
Philosophy
Clean Movement
Natural, coordinated movement patterns allow for sustainable progress by reducing wear and tear and establishing a stable foundation for building strength. All Roydian training is grounded in simple exercises performed mindfully.
Mindful Eating
Food choice and eating habits play a crucial role in achieving fitness goals. Through metrics tracking, meal prep and expert guidance, we help our clients develop a personalized nutritional routine so they can look and feel their best.
80/20 Rule
Fundamentally, we train to better enjoy our lives. Good health allows us to experience more, further into life, with greater satisfaction. To maintain a healthy lifestyle in the long run, we need to complement effort with relaxation and variety.
Training Recovery
For long-term success, recovery is just as important as training itself. Proper rest protects from injury and accelerates results. Compression, myofascial therapy and sleep tracking are some of the tools we use to enhance recovery.
Roy Chan
It took me years to realize how unhealthy my environment was, growing up as an immigrant kid in a low-income neighborhood. My diet consisted of mostly ultra-processed fast foods with sugary drinks. I fell in with a crowd that encouraged a destructive lifestyle, and I started drinking and smoking regularly, sinking lower as the habits worsened. Under the weight of my surroundings, I reached a moment of crisis and became desperate for something better.
My deep dissatisfaction was the seed for a remarkable transformation in my life. Not only did I learn how to break myself free from the downward spiral, I found a gift for helping others to do the same. Through more than a decade of trial and study, I developed Roydian - a training method built around clean movement and a conscious approach to food, rest and the enjoyment of life.
In 2020 I opened Roydian Studio, a private studio in West Hollywood that caters to individuals in pursuit of the best versions of themselves. With my team, I’ve been lucky to witness the inspirational growth of many clients, including professional athletes striving for peak performance and those with high-pressure lives seeking a sense of balance. It is a privilege to do this work and I am grateful for the positive impact that it enables me to make.
